Italian poetry award for Cees Nooteboom

Italy is another country that recognizes the major significance of Cees Nooteboom as a poet. The Fondazione Cassamarca has awarded him the Premio Europeo di Poesia for his collection of poems Le porte della notte (The Gate of Night) which was published by Edizioni del Leone (translation by Fulvio Ferrari) in 2003. Besides Nooteboom, Yves Bonnefoy, Mario Luzi, and Friederike Mayröcker were also nominated for the award, which consists of a sum of € 10,000.
