Awards for Van Dis

Adriaan van Dis has had a good start to the year, within a week he was awarded both the E. Du Perron Prize and the Gouden Ganzenveer. The Gouden Ganzeveer is an annual prize awarded to a significant figure in the world of letters in The Netherlands. Van Dis is praised by the jury because he ‘is not only strikingly versatile and innovative, but is also clearly devoted to style and good taste in his use of words and in his presentation.’

Earlier, the city and University of Tilburg (universiteit Tilburg) decided to award Van Dis with the E. Du Perron Prize for his short story collection Leeftocht (Life Journey). The jury praises him for ‘his unremitting personal commitment to the ideal of a generous and open world in which there is no need to sit on the fence.’
