Charlotte Mutsaers wins P.C. Hooft Prize
The most prestigious literary prize of the Netherlands has been awarded to Charlotte Mutsaers, for her narrative prose, including the novels De markiezin, (The Marquise), Rachels rokje (Rachel’s Skirt) and Koetsier Herfst (Coachman Autumn). The last-mentioned book was nominated for the AKO Literature Prize last year.
Her oeuvre - which also consists of essays - had previously earned the Constantijn Huygens Prize, the Jacobus van Looij Prize and the Busken Huet Prize. Her novels and her essays have been translated into German.
