In Memoriam Ana Crespo Solans

With great sadness we have learned of the death of the Spanish translator Ana Crespo Solans, in Madrid ten minutes before the end of the year 2006. Ana was forty-five years old.

Ana Crespo Solans was a teacher of Dutch language and of literary translation from Dutch to Spanish at the Dutch department of the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas in Madrid.

She was actively engaged in literary translation workshops in the Netherlands and in Spain, and translated work by Carl Friedman, Lieve Joris and Tessa de Loo, among others. We shall greatly miss Ana’s commitment, talent, flair and, above all, her radiant personality. We wish her husband, children, other family members and friends our sincere sympathy in coming to terms with this loss.
