Olga Krijtová wins NLPVF Translator's Prize 2007
The NLPVF Translator’s Prize 2007 has been awarded to the Dutch-Czech translator Olga Krijtová (Hradec Králové, 1931), for the key role she has played in making Dutch literature accessible to readers in the Czech Republic. Her translations including prose by J. Bernlef, Remco Campert, Hugo Claus, Louis Couperus, Miep Diekmann, Harry Mulisch, Jacques Presser, Annie M.G. Schmidt and Jan Wolkers, while her poetry translations cover work by Van Maerlant, Van den Vondel, Huygens, Gorter, Slauerhoff, Achterberg and Lucebert, among others.
In 1969 she received the Martinus Nijhoff Prize for her translations, and in 2006 she was awarded the Magnesia Litera, the major Czech translation prize. From 1955 to 2001, Olga Krijtová was an associate of Karels University in Prague, where her activities included teaching Dutch Language and Literature. The NLPVF Translator’s Prize is awarded annually to a trailblazer for Dutch literature abroad, and consists of a sum of € 5,000.
