Wanda Reisel wins the Anna Bijns Prize 2007
The Anna Bijns Prize 2007 has been conferred upon Wanda Reisel for her novel Witte liefde. This biennial prize is awarded alternately to prose and poetry written by a female author. The jury concluded: ‘Witte liefde is not only an attractive sensual book but also a novel that is, in its style, excellently structured. The vocabulary is precise, pure and superb.’
Besides Reisel, the other nominees were Marja Brouwers (Casino), Kristien Hemmerechts (De waar gebeurde geschiedenis van Victor en Clara Rooze, The True Story of Victor and Clara Rooze), Margriet de Moor (De verdronkene, Drowned), Marja Pruis (De vertrouweling, The Confidant), D. Hooijer (Zuidwester meningen, Sou’wester Opinions), and Maria Stahlie (Galeislaven, Galley Slaves).
