Duzy Dong for Toon Tellegen
‘Nie każdy umiał się przewrócić’, the Polish translation (by Jadwiga Jedryas) of Bijna iedereen kon omvallen (Almost Everyone Could Fall Down) by Toon Tellegen was recently awarded the Duzy Dong, a prize comparable to the Dutch Gouden Griffel.
This annual award was conferred by a jury of critics who chose the best children’s book from more than 80 titles. They praised Tellegen’s work as wise, amusing, and beautiful’ and mentioned that it was ‘exceptional that the world Tellegen creates is fascinating to both children and adults
.
Toon Tellegen is one of the most frequently translated Dutch authors of children’s books. His books have been translated into more than 15 languages. He has been published in North and South Europe (Finnish, Swedish, German, Spanish, French, Italian) and in Asia (Korean, Japanese). His popularity is also rising in countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Russia. Since 2001, 6 titles have already appeared in Russian.
