Other Gouden Uil prizes
Besides the Prize for Literature, several other prizes were awarded. The Readers’ Prize went to De engelenmaker (Angel Maker) by Stefan Brijs. In addition to Brijs and Van Woerden, the nominees included Jan van Looy (Alfa Amerika), Peter Verhelst (Zwerm, ‘Swarm’), and Tommy Wieringa (Joe Speedboot, which was previously nominated for the AKO-Literature Prize).
The Gouden Uil Prize for Juvenile Literature was again awarded to Floortje Zwigtman. In 2003, she won the prize with Wolfsroedel (Wolfpack), and now her historical novel Schijnbewegingen (Tricks of the Trade), situated in Victorian London, was considered to be the best of the shortlist.
The Young Readers’ Prize went to Jan de Leeuw for Het nachtland (Nightland).
