Second workshop on Arabic language

On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 September, the NLPVF will organize a follow-on workshop on the Arabic language, with the aim of encouraging and supervising literary translators of Dutch-Arabic. The reactions to the pilot workshop on Arabic earlier this year were so positive that an imminent follow-on is required. Developments in the Arabic world, such as the opening of the Dutch Cultural and Educational Centre in Rabat, ensure that the demand for Arabic translators is becoming even more urgent.

During the workshop, the participants will busy themselves with a fragment from the story ‘De Oversteek’ (The Crossing) from De Kwetsuur (The Injury, The Toby Press, 2000) by Anna Enquist. The author will be present for some time during the workshop to answer questions. The workshop will take place in the Translators’ House in Amsterdam. Assad Jaber and Jan Jaap de Ruiter will act as moderators.
