Tommy Wieringa wrote the best sentence

The editors of Tzum magazine confer an annual prize for the best sentence published by a Dutch author in the year in question. This year the Tzum prize goes to Tommy Wieringa for the sentence in Joe Speedboat: ‘The tailpipes gleamed like trumpets, the world seemed to be seared by the all-consuming din when the lads stepped on the accelerator with the clutch disengaged, just to let everybody know that they existed, so that no one could doubt it, because whatever does not reverberate does not exist.’ For these 42 words (in Dutch), the author received the sum of € 42.
