Non-Fiction

Since 1997, the NLPVF has supported the translation of literary non-fiction produced by Dutch authors. Literary non-fiction comprises many genres, such as well-written monographs with an original approach to the theme, journalistic non-fiction, travel literature (auto-)biographies, essays, etc.
In all these genres, any translation subsidy granted depends on the quality of the book, the foreign publisher, and the translator. Academic and educational non-fiction, as well as manuals and non-fiction offering practical information (do-it-yourself, cookery books, etc.) are not included in the genres we subsidize. More information about the general terms and conditions, can be found on the translation grants-page.
